Ingredients:

For the Fish:

  • 4 boneless, skinless fish fillets (such as cod, haddock, or tilapia)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying

  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 tomato, sliced

Instructions:

Prepare the Fish:

  1. Preheat the Oil: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat, enough to cover the bottom of the skillet. You’ll need about 1/4 inch of oil.
  2. Set Up Breading Station: In one bowl, place the flour. In a second bowl, whisk together the buttermilk and egg. In a third bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Coat the Fish: Dredge each fish fillet in the flour, shaking off excess. Dip into the buttermilk mixture, then coat evenly with the breadcrumb mixture.
  4. Fry the Fish: Carefully place the breaded fish fillets into the hot oil. Fry for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Prepare the Buns:

  1. Toast the Buns: Optionally, you can toast the sandwich buns in a toaster or on a skillet for added texture and flavor.

Assemble the Sandwiches:
